Experience
/ Racing History |
Started 1976/77 in sprints
and hillclimbs in a car I shared with brother Ray. The first car was built
around a Jeffrey F750 chassis using Lotus Twin Cam engines, then moving
to a Mallock Mk21 and then a Vision V86. In 1990 a special was built up
around a Vision F3 car running on methanol & nitro which won a number
of class records. In 1995 I won the Isle of Man 5km International hillclimb
and took the hill record, previously held by a Jordan F1 car. In 2000 Ray
loaned his Mallock Mk20b to me and I converted the car to 'B' class using
the engine Ray acquired when he bought the Phantom. I had my first ever
race at Cadwell in 2001 and did five more rounds in the 2001 championship.
I will probably do the odd hillclimb in 2002, money and time permitting,
since I'm hoping to do a full season in the Mallock. Classic Clubmans is
great fun - fast cars, good fair competition, fabulous atmosphere, very
much like hillclimbing where competitors will help each other to ensure
a driver with a problem makes the grid |

Favourite Circuit
/ Why? |
I try to like them all so
I don't have a favourite - if pressed it would have to be Doune hillclimb,
Scotland, it is awesome. Love going to new tracks |
